This from Claudia Van Wijk. In Claudia's words,"Heinz was my first coach, back in 1970. We were the Banana-belt ski team - yes Southern Ontario. We'd collect banana stickers to stick on our yellow jersey's. Here's a great team photo from 1972 at Madawaska Kanu Centre. Heinz is back right, behind Malcolm Hunter were our coaches. His three sons, Lars (left of me in the shade), Tom and Glenn in the front. Parents were Audrey Mac Donald, my parents, Christa and Hermann Kerckhoff. Front right is Pete Saar. behind him Larry Sinclair. Also on the team are - Shelagh MacDonald, her brother Ian, Mike Maxfield, Dasha and Eva Cejnar, Tom Opsal, Kalle Lepick ... all Toronto based skiers.. When Heinz lived in Bay Ridges (by Peterborough) at his learned trade: Baker."
