About Coaching and Officials Development

One of CCOs major roles on behalf of all clubs is to manage Coaches and Officials Development.

Coaches and Officials are the major trained human infrastructure within CCO. Coaches introduce our young skiers to the sport at the earliest levels and provide skills training and leadership to all ages of athlete. Officials are essential to providing well-structured, safe and fair competitive events to provide opportunities for our members and athletes to have fun and to develop as athletes.

Both Coached Development and Officials Development are closely coordinated with Cross Country Canada, and both areas are in the process of transition and improvement.

Coaching Development is being updated by Cross Country Canada (CCC) in consultation with the Coaching Association of Canada. CCO is now in the third season of realigning its development of coaches along the lines of the "new" National Coaching ertification Program (NCCP).

Coaching Development is the major priority of CCO, and we are pleased to have just received approval for a Trillium grant to provide critical support to this activity over the next three years.
