Summer Training Camp Report - Southern Ontario Training Centre

Christie Campbell, Ontario Para-Nordic Team athlete and Paralympian, learned to ride a bike at the Preston Memorial Arena at a KidsAbility camp called "Lose the Training Wheels." The Lose the Training Wheels program will be touring 90 cities in the U.S. and Canada.

Lana Puumala CCO Youth Chair
CCO is pleased to welcome Lana Puumala as CCO Youth Chair for the 11/12 season. Lana is a former Ontario Ski Team member, racing in many National championships as both a junior and senior. She is a certified Level 3 coach and coached the Ontario Team at the Canada Winter Games in 2003. Lana and her partner reside in Atikokan where they are raising two young children, one of whom is Jackrabbit and the other will be this season. [2011-08-02]

Robbi Weldon 2011 UCI Para-cycling World Cup Champion

2012 Ontario Winter Games
After consultation with the Sport Alliance of Ontario, Cross Country Ontario announced that we will not be a participating sport in the 2012 Ontario Winter Games. With the changes in focus of the Ontario Winter Games over the past number of years, Cross Country Ontario struggles to fulfill the OWG mandate while offering the best competition opportunities for our athletes. The scheduling of the OWG consistently conflicts with our National Championships. After a number of attempts to restructure the event itself and change the age categories attending the OWG, we find ourselves facing a familiar dilemma for 2012 with the confirmed dates of March 5-12, 2012. We will continue to work with the Sport Alliance of Ontario on future Ontario Winter Games. [2011-06-01]

Cross Country Ontario is pleased to announce that Patti Kitler is the recipient of the 2010-2011 Heinz Niederhauser Coaching Award. Patti is well known in the Ontario ski community as a dedicated coach and driving force behind Para-Nordic skiing in Ontario. NDC Thunder Bay - The Most Successful Season Yet
Three members represented Canada on the World Stage, and 6 NDC athletes qualified for Canada Winter Games. Andrea Lee became the Canadian University Champion, Michael Somppi cracked the top15 at World U23 Championships, and Andy Shields qualified for the World Junior Championships and won the overall junior men's title at the Canadian Championships.
